I’ve been scribbling down goals, affirmations, and other “weird brain dump stuff” since college. Not every day, not perfectly, but enough to notice a pattern:
The more I write, the better my life gets. Period.
And it’s not just me being woo-woo about it. There’s actual research.
You’ve probably heard the famous Harvard MBA study: the 3% of grads who wrote down their goals ended up making ten times more money than the other 97% combined, ten years later.
Now, I don’t think it’s just the act of writing. Let’s be real—people who bother to write down their goals are already wired differently than people who don’t. But here’s the kicker: it’s not about writing it once and forgetting it. It’s about repetition.
Here’s where I get real with you: I go through phases.
I’ll journal, crush a goal, then stop.
And then I wonder why I’m spinning my wheels.

Every time I actually commit to my little “Reality Engineering” exercises (that’s what I call them), things shift. Like, noticeably. The more I write, the more clarity I have. The more clarity I have, the more action I take. The more action I take… you get the picture.
The Olympic-Level Example That Smacked Me Awake
The other day, I saw this reel of a woman who qualified for the freaking Olympics in the decathlon. And you know what she showed? Her journals.
Pages and pages of every single target, broken down in insane detail. Not once. Not twice. She wrote them down over and over, until it became her reality.
She didn’t just wish it. She engineered it. And it paid off.
🚫 Excuses Are Just… Excuses
The truth? Writing takes five minutes. But your brain will come up with a hundred reasons not to do it:
“I’m too busy.”
“It won’t matter.”
“I’ll do it later.”
All complete and utter BS.
Five minutes of focused writing is more powerful than five hours of winging it.
My September Commitment
So here’s me, saying it out loud: I’m recommitting to daily journaling for the month of September.
Because I know from experience—this weird little habit is the difference between coasting and crushing.
